Flush Casement Windows vs Casement Windows
When you’re choosing double glazing for your home, it’s very easy to think there’s only one option – the standard uPVC casement window. But that’s far from the case these days.
One of the biggest developments in the double glazing industry in the past few years has been the introduction of new and different types of window. This has opened up a new world of choice. One of the most popular of the new designs is the flush casement window.
To help you decide whether you need flush casement windows or casement windows for your home, here’s everything you need to know.
Flush casement windows
uPVC flush casement windows look like a traditional timber casement window. The window sash sits flush in its frame. Because of their traditional appearance, flush casement windows are often used in period or heritage homes. They also look fantastic in modern homes too because they have a classic, understated appearance that adds an extra layer of style.
The timber appearance of the design is often enhanced with woodgrain finishes and / or coloured foils so the window looks even more like a typical painted timber window. You can choose to have a coloured foil on the outside and white – or any other colour – on the inside, so you don’t have to worry about matching your frames to your décor.
There is also a choice of handles. Traditional-look handles are perfect on period properties but modern hardware makes a striking statement.
Despite the traditional appearance of flush casement windows, they have all the practicalities you expect from modern uPVC. They’ll cut draughts and keep the warmth in more effectively than ageing timber windows. In fact, our flush casement windows have a Window Energy Rating of A+14, which is the most efficient there is. The security is state-of-the-art, so you can keep loved ones and precious possessions safe. They’re also very low maintenance. They’ll need a wash down with soapy water occasionally, but there’s no need to worry about painting or filling cracks.
Casement windows
Casement windows are the standard uPVC windows that have secured their place as the UK’s most popular choice of window.
There’s good reason for this. Like all uPVC double glazing, they’re perfect for modern living. Our casement windows are thermally efficient – A+14 as a minimum. They are secure. They are low maintenance and have a lifespan of at least 35 years.
But don’t think that if you choose a standard uPVC casement window you’ll be restricted to a plain white window. Far from it. There are lots of ways you can personalise a standard casement window so it’s perfect for you and your home.
Coloured frames are increasingly popular. Like our flush casement windows you can choose different colours inside and out. You can add leaded lights to give visual interest. You can create a heritage look on a budget with features such as glazing bars or Georgian horns. You can also opt for heritage or different colour hardware to add interest internally.
