From Start to Finish: How We Create Your Perfect Windows
You may have never given much thought to how your windows are made. With many products used in the United Kingdom being manufactured overseas, when a product is manufactured in Britain it is seen as a hallmark of quality.
Majestic Designs are proud to manufacture all of our windows and doors in the United Kingdom. From our state-of-the-art factories in Cheddar, we create thousands of windows and doors every year. Many of these windows are chosen with bespoke modifications by our customers, but every one of these windows is created with a high level of skill, craftsmanship and attention to detail. If you have ever wondered how your uPVC windows are made, here is a handy guide:
You choose your windows
Before we can begin making your windows, you will need to pick a window style to suit your home. We understand that there is a lot of choice, luckily during this process, a member of our team will be on hand to help you decide and answer any questions you may have. When you make the decision to work with Majestic Designs, a member of our team will have a conversation with you about your needs.
Following this, they will visit your home to measure your home for your new windows and discuss with you the many styles of windows we offer. During your initial conversation, you may have noted that you are interested in a certain style or colour of window, and our team will bring samples of these so that you can get to know your options.
We offer a variety of window styles to suit every home. Whether you are looking for a sleek flush casement window or a traditional sash window with traditional hardware for a period look, the Majestic Designs team will help you to find the perfect windows to suit your home.
Once you have chosen your window style, you may want to consider customising these further with a colour. We offer a range of colours to suit your home from heritage greens to a cool anthracite grey, which offers an instant modern update to any home.
If you’re looking for something a little different from a standard window style, Majestic Designs can also create windows. Whether you are looking to create an unusual glazing feature or install unconventional shapes in historic homes, our team will be happy to discuss bespoke windows to suit your needs.
All of our products are made to measure, putting the customer first and ensuring that the manufacturing process creates as little waste as possible. Once you’ve decided on the design and type you’d like and we have collected the relevant measurements, we can start to construct your window.
Creating your window profile
Once you have decided on the style of your windows, picked your colours and your home has been measured, we will begin to create your window profiles at our state-of-the-art factories in Cheddar.
Our uPVC windows are made from long strips of uPVC called ‘profiles’. These profiles have to be created before they can be used in the manufacture of windows. In the window industry, this process is called ‘extrusion’.
All of our uPVC window profiles are created by a high quality extrusion company in Tewkesbury, who specialise in creating window profiles of exceptional quality. The quality of these window profiles ensure the highest levels of thermal and acoustic performance in the finished window, contributing to the rating of our A+14 rated windows, making windows from Majestic Designs fourteen times more energy efficient than an A rated window – which represents the difference between an N and A rated window.
After the profile has been sourced and delivered to our factories, we then start to put your window together at our state-of-the-art factories in Cheddar.
Putting your windows together
Thanks to our state-of-the-art factories based in Cheddar, we are able to manufacture a huge range of complex window designs to your exact specifications. After measuring up a new window at a property, our team of expert window fabricators get to work.
Using the latest precision machinery, our team carefully assembles each window. This labour-intensive, intricate process involves cutting the profile to size, fusion welding the joints (at 254℃!) and finishing the frames to a high standard using special machines.
Our windows are made using ‘virgin’ extruded uPVC – for a fault-free product and flawless finish. After the fabrication process is complete, your hardware is affixed and the glazing is installed. Once we have polished your windows until they sparkle, it is ready to be installed in your home.
Installing your new windows
Once your windows are ready to be installed, we will get them to your home as soon as possible so that you can enjoy all the benefits of brand new windows from Majestic Designs.
Your windows will be installed by our fully employed team of MTC registered and FENSA accredited lead installers. Fully employing all of our window installers and ensuring that they have these accreditations is not only our assurance of the quality of your installation, but it means that should there be any problems with the window installation, caused by the installation process, Majestic Designs are able to take full accountability. We also offer a 10-year warranty to give you peace of mind.
Whilst the turnaround time from picking your windows to installation can vary depending on the nature of the job, by controlling the manufacturing process from start to finish, using local tradesmen and suppliers, Majestic Designs are able to offer a swift turnaround time from manufacturing to installation.
