Here’s Proof That UPVC Windows Are Perfect For Heritage Homes
Our client, Mr Roper, lives in a beautiful house overlooking the Bristol Channel in Clevedon, Somerset. Parts of his home date back 250/300 years and it was originally two cottages that have been knocked into one. It is packed with charm and gorgeous period features.
Mr Roper needed to replace the windows and doors on his home but he had a dilemma. He wanted to give his home the energy efficiency and security that modern day UPVC double glazed windows give. But like many people, he worried modern double glazing wouldn’t look right in his period home.
He came to our Cheddar showroom to discuss the options. We were able to put his mind at ease by showing him that we could install windows that would provide energy efficiency and security but also be sensitive to the period looks and character of his home.
As part of his research, he shopped around to look at alternatives. In the end, he came back to us. He appreciated the fact all our products are manufactured direct by us in our state of the art fabrication plant and we employ all our fitters directly. He also liked the fact we are a family business. All in all, it gave him the reassurance he needed.
In total, Mr Roper commissioned 22 windows from us. The majority of the windows were white casement windows, which gave him the clean, unfussy lines he was looking for. Two particularly special windows were also needed. We manufactured two very small gothic windows with delicate fleur de lys glazing for the windows in the porch.
He also commissioned two composite doors to replace two timber doors. He chose the beautiful heritage Chartwell Green colour with two Fleur de Lys sidelights to complement the gothic windows too.
We completed the installation in just four days, taking our usual care and commitment to attention to detail. We are delighted with the finished results – the project shows that in the right hands, UPVC complements heritage architecture beautifully.
More importantly, Mr Roper is delighted too. He says: “The job was job done over and above our expectations. The installation was superb. 10 out of 10. We are over the moon with everything.”
